This 12-hour and 24-hour Time Converter converts conventional AM/PM time into 24-hour time and converts 24-hour or military time back into an easy-to-read 12-hour format.

The main source of conversion mistakes is hour 12. In the 12-hour system, 12 AM means midnight and maps to hour 00. In contrast, 12 PM means noon and remains hour 12.

For other PM times, add 12 to the hour. For example, 1:30 PM becomes 13:30 and 11:45 PM becomes 23:45. AM hours from 1 through 11 remain unchanged apart from a leading zero.

What is 24-hour or military time?

The 24-hour clock numbers every hour from 00 through 23 and does not require AM or PM. It is widely used in transportation, healthcare, public safety, computing, international schedules, and military communication.
