Three simple steps

How to convert Base64 to PNG

The converter validates both the Base64 structure and the decoded PNG before making a file available.

01

Paste or import

Paste raw Base64, use a complete PNG Data URL, or import one or more text files containing encoded PNG data.

02

Decode and validate

Your browser decodes the text, verifies the PNG signature and dimensions, and checks that the image can be rendered.

03

Preview and download

Inspect each image in a larger preview, download PNG files individually, or package successful results into a ZIP archive.

Built for safe decoding

More than a file-extension change

The converter checks the actual decoded bytes instead of trusting a MIME label or filename.

True PNG validation

PNG signature bytes and the IHDR structure are inspected before browser-level image decoding confirms the result.

No recompression

Valid decoded bytes are placed directly in an image/png Blob. Canvas rendering and lossy re-encoding are not used.

Private by design

The conversion runs in browser memory. Your Base64 text and decoded images are not intentionally sent to an upload endpoint.

Batch-ready queue

Up to three entries are processed concurrently, with clear queued, processing, completed, and failed states.

Safe output names

File names are cleaned and deduplicated automatically so completed images do not overwrite one another inside a ZIP.

Transparent PNG previews

Checkerboard preview surfaces make transparent regions visible while preserving the original PNG data.

What happens to your data?

Base64 is a text representation of binary data. Decoding reconstructs the original bytes without changing the image.

Property Base64 input PNG output
Representation ASCII text Binary PNG file
Typical size About 33% larger than binary Original decoded size
Image quality Encoded original bytes No quality loss

Frequently asked questions

Base64 to PNG FAQ

Can I convert raw Base64 and a complete PNG Data URL?

Yes. You can paste raw Base64 text or a complete data:image/png;base64,... URL. Whitespace and line wrapping inside the Base64 content are removed automatically.

Are my Base64 strings or PNG images uploaded?

No upload is required by this converter. Decoding, PNG validation, previews, and file generation run locally in your browser.

Does decoding Base64 reduce PNG image quality?

No. Base64 decoding reconstructs the original binary bytes. The converter does not use canvas recompression or alter valid PNG image data.

Why was my Base64 input rejected?

The input may contain invalid Base64 characters, decode to a different file format, contain a damaged PNG, exceed a safety limit, or use a non-PNG Data URL MIME type.

Can I decode multiple PNG images at once?

Yes. Separate pasted entries with an empty line, place complete Data URLs one per line, or import multiple text files. You can download successful results individually or as a ZIP.

Will PNG transparency and metadata be preserved?

Yes. The converter saves the decoded PNG bytes directly, so transparency and any metadata already present in those bytes are preserved.

Ready to decode your PNG?

Return to the converter, paste your Base64 content, and create a validated PNG file without sending the image to a conversion server.
